160 Year 4 children from 10 local primary schools were involved in the popular Minilympics event, now in its third year.
Working in partnership with CCCU and King’s Sports Department, the children were involved in a wide range of activities such as cricket, track and field games that tested their running, throwing and jumping skills. They were led in 18 teams (named as Olympic cities) by CCCU ambassadors and activities were run with support from King’s 6b pupils.
The Sport, Physical Education and Research team from the University gave a talk on healthy eating, while King’s student Millie Knight and coach Jen Wilson were there to share their experiences of what it takes to reach the world sporting stage. Kent Cricketers Hugh Bernard, Charlie Hartley and Imran Qayyum played games with the children before signing their t-shirts.
The event was supported by a number of sponsors including Durtnells, Brighter Homes, Bidfood, WM Martin and Kent Catering Supplies.
