Since February a team of enthusiastic student volunteers have been visiting St. John’s Primary School every morning to help out with their Breakfast Club. The volunteers are mainly boarders from years 10 to 13 and are enjoying the experience hugely. They join the St. John’s children to eat breakfast and wash up together, as well as playing quiet games and reading with them. They have taken with them some new toys donated by the King’s School partnerships team including chess and a maths dice game. George, a 6th form pupil said after the first week, “Ellie and I had a fantastic time at breakfast club today, we both enjoyed it and the children were great.” The staff at St. John’s are delighted that the children will have older role models every morning to show them good behaviour at the table and help them get them ready to learn during the day ahead.
