We were delighted to help our 24 Canterbury Primary Partnership Schools to celebrate British Science Week (8th to 13th March) with its exciting theme of Innovating For the Future. As the science week coincided with the start of schools in full session after lockdown, we wanted to support our CPSP schools as much as possible. Looking at ways to help and support the science leads in delivering British Science Week to their schools in the simplest way possible with maximum impact.
We provided 8 science subject leads with the opportunity to attend a CPD session run by the STEM Hub on how to deliver BSW and also held a science lead meeting where we discussed and shared resources. Dr Geoff Nelson our Head of Science Partnerships developed resources for the week including a Science Walk resource, a Robo-Bug competition and is working on extended resources with King’s School student volunteers.
As a focal point to the week, Kings School Partnerships held an online assembly with Jo Fox from Spacefund with over 11 CPSP schools attending. Jo is a space and robotics expert and she delighted our audience with her amazing RoboKids show. The children loved the show which covered robotics and a virtual voyage to Mars. It felt wonderful to have so many CPSP schools enjoying the wonder of science together again.
