Dinesh Dhamija – Life as an entrepreneur
Dinesh was at the King’s School from 1968-69. After graduating from Cambridge, IMD Lausanne and Harvard Business School, Dinesh launched a successful business career. In 1980, he started Dabin Travel from a tiny kiosk in Earls Court station and through much hard work, grew this business into eBookers.com, a Nasdaq and FTSE250 listed company. The company reached sales of US$1bn, employed 2,000 and had offices in 12 countries before selling in 2005.
As a self-taught entrepreneur Dinesh learned to weather many challenges such as 9/11, the Iraq war and SARS. He is now a business advisor and uses his expertise to help others by working in the charity sector. He also became inspired to make a difference in society and joined the Lib Dem party in 2014, becoming a Member of European Parliament.
